Many riders find the entire reading list somewhat daunting. In response to this we have come up with the 'First Four'. These are the books that if you have not read yet, they should be on your list to read next. These 'Four' Books provide a great foundation for forming a common understanding and language to effectively benefit from riding lessons. Our 'First Four' (short and essential list of book) includes:

1. The Complete Training of Horse and Rider (Alois Podhajsky)

2. The Gymnasium of the Horse (Gustav Steinbrecht)

3. Ecole de Cavalerie Part II (English) (de la Gueriniere)

4. The Art of Horsemanship (Xenophon )

You can purchase 'The Gymnasium of the Horse' at the following link: Gymnasium

You can purchase 'Ecole de Cavalerie' at the following link: ECOLE

'The Complete Training of Horse and Rider' and 'The Art of Horsemanship' are easily available from many sites some very discounted. Check out this price comparison site for the best prices available at this link: GET TEXT BOOKS

By clicking on the title of the books or on the link to Amazon, you are NOT obligated to purchase anything. We have found that Amazon simply has reviews of most of these books written by other readers and is a great place to shop for the best deals on these texts.
