Many riders find the entire list somewhat daunting. In response to this we have come up with the 'First Four'. These are the books that if you have not read yet, they should be on your list to read next. These 'Four' Books provide a great foundation for forming a common understanding and language to effectively benefit from riding lessons. Our 'First Four' (short and essential list of book) includes:

1. The Complete Training of Horse and Rider (Alois Podhajsky)

2. The Gymnasium of the Horse (Gustav Steinbrecht)

3. The Dressage Horse-English Translation of Chapter 3 (Harry Boldt)

4. Riding Logic (Wilhelm Museler)

You can purchase 'The Gymnasium of the Horse' AND 'The Dressage Horse-English Translation of Chapter 3' for a total of $85 which includes USPS Priority shipping to the USA, or for $96 USPS Global Priority to anywhere else in the world (Canada included). Global Priority is to most countries in 7 working days or less. email us at rfwilliams37@hotmail.com or call us at 757 414 0393 to find out how to get these texts.

'The Complete Training of Horse and Rider' is easily available from many sites some very discounted. 'Riding Logic' is out of print but many paperback and hardcopies are available used on Amazon.com or Alibris.com or Abebooks.com. Occasionally we have used hardback copies of 'Riding Logic' available for $28.

By clicking on the title of the books or on the link to Amazon, you are NOT obligated to purchase anything. We have found that Amazon simply has reviews of most of these books written by other readers and is a great place to shop for the best deals on these texts. The shipping is usually much less expensive than from tack shops and equestrian catalogues. Also on the list but not linked here is "The Dressage Horse" by Harry Boldt. This is the English translation of Chapter 3 of his German text. It is very instructive with regard to the aids for many movements.

Williams Dressage offers the service of finding rare, out of print, or hard to find titles. We specialize in Horse and Dressage books and can find almost anything for you. For the convenience of our students we also stock many of the books on the list above.

Send us an Inquiry if you are looking for, but unable to find specific titles. We can usually find the best prices on most of these titles due to our extensive knowlege of the book market. This service is not limited to horse books. We have been collecting books for years and are an online book seller. Send us an email to rfwilliams37@hotmail.com.
